Budgetpeer is a manual budget tracking web application. Your privacy is fundamental to how we built this product. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.
What We Collect
We collect the minimum data necessary to provide the service:
Account information: Email address and password (for authentication only).
Budget data: Transactions, categories, accounts, BNPL plans, and recurring templates that you manually enter.
Plan information: Your plan status (Free or Lifetime) and license key if applicable.
Basic usage data: We may collect anonymised usage analytics (page views, feature usage) to improve the product. No personal financial data is included in analytics.
What We Do Not Collect
Bank account credentials or login information
Credit card numbers (payments are processed entirely by Lemon Squeezy)
Social Security numbers or government IDs
Location data
Data from third-party financial services (Plaid, Yodlee, etc.)
Contacts, photos, or other device data
How We Use Your Data
We use your data solely to provide and improve the Budgetpeer service:
Store and display your budget data so you can track your finances
Calculate BNPL payment schedules based on information you enter
Generate spending insights and dashboard charts
Validate license keys for paid accounts
Send essential service communications (e.g., password reset)
What We Never Do
Sell your data to anyone
Share your financial data with third parties
Display advertisements
Use your data for AI model training
Track you across other websites
Monetise your information in any way beyond the product itself
Third-Party Services
Supabase (Database & Authentication): Hosts your encrypted data. Supabase does not access or use your budget data. Their privacy policy is available at supabase.com/privacy.
Lemon Squeezy (Payments): Processes one-time payments for the Lifetime plan. Budgetpeer never sees or stores your credit card information. Lemon Squeezy acts as the merchant of record and handles all payment data. Their privacy policy is at lemonsqueezy.com/privacy.
Analytics: We may use privacy-focused analytics tools to understand general usage patterns. These tools collect anonymised, aggregated data only — never individual financial information.
Your Rights
Access: You can request a copy of your data at any time by emailing hello@budgetpeer.com.
Export: You can export your transaction data as CSV from within the app.
Delete: You can delete your account and all associated data from Settings. Deletion is permanent and irreversible.
Correction: You can edit any of your data directly within the app at any time.
Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, all associated data is permanently removed. We do not keep backups of individual user data after account deletion.
Children’s Privacy
Budgetpeer is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect data from minors. If you believe a minor has created an account, please contact us, and we will delete it.
International Users
Budgetpeer is primarily designed for users in North America. If you are located in the European Union or other regions with data protection laws, please be aware that your data may be processed and stored in the United States. By using Budgetpeer, you consent to this transfer.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will notify you via email or through a notice in the app. Continued use of Budgetpeer after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
